About this Episode

In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we are revisiting an episode from the DCO Discourse archives featuring Caitlin Plant and Melissa Ireland. Melissa is an Indigenous holistic social work professional with a passion for inclusion and education, wellness, and connection to community and culture. In this episode, Caitlin and Melissa discuss relationships, learning and unlearning, and what it means to be a better ally to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

This conversation was originally released in 2022 as part of a series discussing Truth and Reconciliation. Through four conversations with Indigenous community members and service providers, the series explored Truth and Reconciliation, the experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in Canada, and how we can work toward stronger relationships and communities.

Throughout the series, guests also shared resources, media, and community initiatives for those interested in continuing their learning and unlearning. DCO updated this collection in 2023 with additional recommendations from community partners, podcast guests, and DCO staff. You can explore the full National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Resource List here.
